1. Schedule a Consultation. We offer consultations in person, over the phone, and via Zoom. In many cases, our clients are surprised to find that a couple of weeks may be needed before a consultation can be scheduled. That is because we limit the number of consultations we offer each day so that we can make sure that we have enough time to address the needs of our existing clients and meet our commitments in court.
2. Return Your New Client Paperwork and Make Payment. Our new client paperwork includes a detailed client information form, an employment agreement with the firm that details our fees and outlines our mutual expectations, and payment of the retainer required to engage the firm's services. We offer financing through third party lenders, often at better terms than you might expect when charging payments to credit cards.
3. Schedule and Complete Your Intake Meeting. Our intake meetings typically last for 45 minutes to one hour (although they may sometimes be shorter, depending on the case). During the meeting, you and one of our attorneys will have a detailed discussion about the facts of your case. We will discuss how we will implement your legal strategy, address any questions that you have before filing your initial paperwork with the Court, and set mutual expectations for how the legal process is going to work in the near future.
4. The Court Process Begins. Not all cases have the same trajectory through the court system. While there is a general framework for how family law cases work, there are numerous variables that may affect how your case will move through the system.
