Brett Ligon is the former Montgomery County District Attorney, elected from 2009 until 2026, when he resigned to run for Texas Senate. During his tenure, he focused on ensuring public safety and reducing crime, particularly on the roadways. Mr. Ligon was also committed to aggressively prosecuting habitual offenders and ensuring criminals are held accountable rather than passing the cost onto taxpayers. Throughout his career, Ligon has focused on protecting vulnerable populations and enhancing public safety, with notable efforts in combating impaired driving and supporting law enforcement. A lifelong Montgomery County resident, Mr. Ligon and his wife of 30 years, Shannon, are proud alumni of the county’s public schools. Above all, Mr. Ligon takes the greatest pride in being a father to his son, Austin, and daughter, Morgan. His leadership has made a lasting impact on Montgomery County's criminal justice system, focusing on both prevention and prosecution to ensure a safer community.
